Robert J. Kobet, AIA, LEED Faculty
Robert J. Kobet, AIA, LEED Faculty, is President of The Kobet Collaborative, a multifaceted architectural consulting practice specializing in sustainable design and development, high performance architecture, and environmental education. Mr. Kobet’s work includes individual high performance green buildings and sustainable community work in twelve countries on five continents.
He is licensed to practice architecture in Pennsylvania and Florida. His work ranges from consulting to the Cultural Section of the US State Department in Argentina, to designing tree houses in a County Park.
Bob holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Science in Sustainable Systems (MS3) from Slippery Rock University, a degree he was instrumental in creating.
Mr. Kobet is the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award from the University of Cincinnati and has been honored as a UC Distinguished Alumni. He wrote the curriculum for the Built Environment track of the MS3 program, and designed and participated in the construction of the Robert A. Macoskey Center for Sustainable Design and Research, the nucleus of Slippery Rock University’s Master of Science in Sustainable Systems Program, as his master’s thesis. The program received the first Three Rivers Award for Environmental Education.
Bob is a member of the original eleven U.S. Green Building Council LEED Faculty selected in 2000. He is the Chair of the USGBC LEED for Schools Initiative and was recently selected by the USGBC Center for Green Schools as one of four instructors tasked with helping green school advocates around the US who are working to green their local school districts. He is a Registered Provider of Educational Courses for the Green Building Institute and is the author of several ongoing green building courses and LEED workshops.
William "Bill" Kirn Quest Construction Products/Hydro-Stop/United Coatings
Bill Kirn has recently joined Quest Construction Products as Market Manager-New Innovations. Prior to that, he spent eight years as Technical Director and Key Accounts Manager of National Coatings Corporation.
He spent much of his career at Rohm and Haas Company, as Market Manager for roof coatings used in low slope, tile and fiber cement applications and in research, developing improved acrylic products for a wide range of construction applications, including caulks and sealants. He holds four U.S. patents for a wide range of chemical applications. He has been a featured speaker at the Roof Consultant Institute, and facilities engineering and maintenance expos.
Bill is a Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) and was on the faculty of the Roofing Industry Educational Institute. He has been a recipient of the Richard Horowitz Award by RCI for writing excellence. He is active in the Polymeric Materials Subcommittee of ASTM D-08 (Roofing and Waterproofing) and E-06 (Building Performance). He recently retired as chair of Technical Committee, and Board of Directors of the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) and is a member of the Construction Specification Institute. He is Past-President of the Reflective Roof Coating Institute (RRCI). He serves on the Board of Directors of the Energy Coordinating Agency, a non-profit organization which assists low income seniors with energy related needs in Philadelphia PA.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Temple University, Masters in Organic Chemistry from St. Joseph’s University and MBA from Temple University. He and his wife live in King of Prussia, PA.
