Pantone LLC (Carlstadt, N.J.) announced the availability of PANTONE® Lighting Indicator Stickers, a color evaluation, specification and matching tool for the design industries.
The quality of light plays a critical role in color appearance, the company says, adding that making a color decision under the wrong lighting conditions can lead to costly and time-consuming mistakes.
Each sticker has two light-sensitive patches that react to viewing illumination and change color under different lighting temperatures.
The company explains that under D50-range lighting, the standard light source for graphic design and print, the two patches will appear to match. If lighting conditions do not fall in the D50 range, the two patches will appear different. The further the light source is from the D50 range, the greater the contrast appearance.
The stickers have a peel-off adhesive back so designers can attach them to color proofs, color samples and references, ensuring accurate color decisions throughout the design process, the company says.
The stickers are sold in sheets (each with 40 stickers) for $49, and are available online at www.pantone.com/lightingindicator.
