The University of Central Florida (Orlando) is requesting bids from qualified painting contractors to paint 14 residence halls during the 2011 summer session.
Bids are due March 30. A mandatory pre-bid conference and a campus walk-through are scheduled for March 11.
Preparation involves repairing damaged walls, including pin and nail holes. Repaired areas must be primed and coated with two finish coats to keep paint from flashing.

The surfaces and areas to be painted include the walls, doors, doorframes, and ceilings in rooms, hallways, stairwells, lobbies, and bathrooms.
The contractor will apply latex interior ultra-high semigloss and latex interior/exterior semigloss paint using brushes and rollers. Only one coat of paint is needed if repainting existing color; otherwise two coats are required.
The project buildings include Lake Hall, Brevard Hall and Citrus Hall. The other buildings to be painted are located in the Academic Village and Lake Claire areas on the Florida campus.
Reported by Paint BidTracker, a construction reporting service devoted to identifying contracting opportunities for the coatings community.
