DEMILEC (USA), Arlington, Texas, introduced HEATLOK SOY® 200, a spray-foam insulation product based on a formulation that incorporates recycled plastic materials and soy.
The company says the closed-cell foam has passed the NFPA 286 assembly in accordance with AC 377, Appendix X, using 7 ½ inches of the cured foam in walls and 11 ½ inches in the ceiling, which allows the foam to be left exposed in attic and crawl spaces with no ignition barrier or intumescent coating required.
The product contains recycled and renewable content, primarily from recycled plastic bottles and soy, and is reported to function as an air barrier and vapor retarder. The company says the formula composition is more than 20% recycled plastic materials and soy. Due to expansion that tightly fills the building cavity, the SPF seals cracks, gaps and voids in the building envelope.
